Save the hawk but what about the poor pigeon they tie by the foot and use as bait? That poor bird has his leg broken as he tries to escape the lanyard tied to its foot so he is suffering from the bones grinding as he helplessly tries to escape only to be pounced upon by the hawk or falcon.
