"It is very true that much evil has been done by people calling themselves Christians. It is also true that much evil has been done by people calling themselves Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, atheists, secular humanists, scientists, and by people with no particular calling. A much more accurate statement than "Christians have committed evil acts" would be "Humans have committed evil acts and sometimes covered them up by claiming a higher purpose". It would also be accurate to say "Christians have done inestimable good in the world", a statement that can be verified by facts, just as can its negation. Christians are commanded by Jesus to do good. A person who does evil is either a bad Christian disobeying the very Son of God, or is not a Christian at all, but is seeking respectability for his deeds."
