TANKAR is a singer/songwriter with a collection of Rock, Pop, Native American and a few country-ish songs. He started music in grade school playing saxophone under the tutorship of Samuel Szor who led the Toledo Symphony Orchestra for years. That all changed in 1964 when he saw The Beatles live in Detroit's Olympia Stadium. TANKAR dropped the sax and took up guitar as his primary instrument. When he was 14 years old he was developing his abilities on the guitar and through influences like The Beatles, started to open his mind to all instruments. TANKAR personally met and shook hands with Indian master Ali Akbar Khan around this time and was influenced by other cultures. As an adult singer/songwriter, he followed his dream of self production and recording. His first release on CD was called "ROCKSONGS" and was never marketed widely. The songs on this release however, were first rate tunes with tons of Bob Dylan reborn sounding lyrics. His music is much like Bob's being that it is meant to be lyrically absorbed into the brain as food for thought, not dance stuff at all. His second release "The Buffalo Has Returned" was inspired by his Ottawa ancestry and the sad facts created by history. It received college radio airplay as well as massive listens on internet sites like mp3.com. During its heyday, mp3.com helped TANKAR gain worldwide audiences of new indie music. TANKAR has gigged in and around Toledo Ohio but now expends most of his energy in the video realm.
