Zechs Marquise formed in El Paso, Texas during the spring of 2003 when brothers Marfred and Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez came together with childhood friends Matthew Wilkson and Marcos Smith. The group soon named itself after a popular Japanese anime character and hit the studio to record its first album during the late summer months of 2004. They have a little bit influences of Omar Rodríguez López, but they are Progressive Rock.

Zechs Marquise es un grupo de El Paso, formado por los hermanos de Omar Rodríguez López (Marcel y Marfred) junto con Marcos Smith y Matt Wilkson. Tienen bastante influencia de su hermano, así que puede sonar un poquito a TMV, pero ZM carece de cantante, lo que les convierte en un grupo instrumental, y de un Rock Progressivo más clasico.

My Oppinion:

LTIA did shock the people ...
Starless and Bible Black was special... It was very jazzy, tons of impros, rhythm switches and freaky jazz-riffs ... it was special because they developed it out of a few Jamsessions and
famous Auditions (`73) (Trio, Fracture & Starless and Bible Black...)
They referred meanings 2 a famous Reader (Milk Woods or smthg) , especially "Starless and bible black..." .

and STARLESS itself...

is a Studioproduction they developped FOR RED,
conducting to the Concerts BEFORE...

(They tried to do something absolutely obscure... to play a conceptional (!) Song which
feels like being performed on stage... hmmm hard to describe, my English`s not the best, indeed...)

and this obscure idea
did change everything.

But in an altruistic, silent way.
Today every Producer knows : they founded one of the Fundamentals of a sucsessfull production.
Most things seems to be normal nowadays, but if you search in Rock/Metal for "the Roots", you`ll most of the time end up with guys like Robert Fripp.
You have to STOP if you want to earn in this Buisiness, and thats smthg Robert never wanted to do...
Thats why more People know about AlDiMeola 4 example... Roberts the Explorer... always far ahead... ;)

PS: The Live-versions i know are not compareable with this ONE and ONLY recording they delivered with RED...
