HAHAHAHA!!! I found this clip while looking for a performance as close as possible to that of the Bluegrass 4's. I grew up listening to them; now every time I hear someone else sing one of the songs they performed, it always sounds "wrong" to me. The Spinney Brothers are great, though! :)

This was kindofa dumb move on my part. The best way to get birch bark to take a spark is to rough/tear the outside of it with a piece of gravel or something. You want nice ultra-thin (like onion skin) strands of it hanging off everywhere. A knife tends to just cut them off rather than make goo...
