The Vibrasonic Sessions are a collective of instrumentalists, groovementalists and freefunkateers. The Mississauga-based outfit started out in 2006 as a unit called on to do an improvisational live to air session on a university radio show called "The Vibrasonic Experiment". Happy with the results of the session and its potential, Octavio Santos (Swanky), the unit leader, vocal and trumpet/flugelhorn specialist immersed in a plethora of genres from jazz and electronic to Brazilian funk and gospel (a great list can be made thanks to Gilles Peterson), decided to pursue this promising endeavour. In its beginnings, The Vibrasonic Sessions went through many roster changes, compiling an arsenal of musicians that could be mixed and matched depending on what the situation called for, almost akin to Incognito or the Broken Social Scene. During that time they were doing small improvised shows wherever the groove called.

In 2008, they were discovered by lyricist Louwop The Dirty General for their ability to rock audiences effortlessly. Assigned as Louwop's backing band, Swanky was forced to form a non-changing unit to be able to supply the demands of promoting Louwop's debut CD "The Great Escape", making appearances at Harlem Lounge and at Yonge-Dundas Square as headliners for Street Impact 2008. The ensemble disbanded when some members of the group decided to pursue other projects causing a disappearance of the name from the musical map for almost a year.

In June of 2009, Swanky was given an opportunity to revive The Vibrasonic Sessions, this time as a spotlight band rather than a backing one at M-Studio for a hip hop festival promoting Filipino talent. Dason Johnson (DMaj of Johnny Major), an original member of the crew was recalled to join the team as the tested and true keyboard specialist on the band's return to the music scene. Swanky knows of DMaj's immense talent and dexterity on the keys from their days as band members and wanted to bring back more jazzy and soul-filled music to those willing to listen. They understood where each person was coming from which has made them a formidable package.

Additional players were given the chance to step up to the plate and display their skills audibly. Very critical of the chemistry of the group, Swanky made some calls to people he has worked with in the past and to musicians who have been enthused to jump in on future collaborations.

A group that was dormant for a year with a roster restarted from scratch became an eye-opener for many who witnessed them in attendance at M-Studio, making their debut as a forefront band one to be talked about. A few tweaks here and there to the roster after their debut provided a solidified and more stable unit when their next move was made at My Mississauga's Behaviour Urban Arts Festival 2009, which kicked off ManifesTO & Eye Weekly's day 1 presentation of its One City Series. Among the series performers of the month long event included the likes of Slakah The Beatchild, Scratch (formerly of The Roots), Jedi Mind Tricks, K'naan, Colin Munroe and Mayer Hawthorne & The County to name a few.

Their performances have turned heads and garnered much attention, sparking well received responses. What was once a hidden secret in the community was now open topic, making themselves known in the Mississauga News for the effort they put forth live and direct.

All these yesses on the other end of the phone created a heavy hitting roster that is always changing their sound. Drawing influences from all sorts of genres that each member slings on their shoulders, their sound tries to amalgamate different aspects of it to give you that unexpected 1,2 punch.

They are currently making movements and are in the midst of working on new material for a project. Be on your P's and Q's, coming soon to an eardrum in you.

With the departure of some members of the band, new musical blood enlist to take over.
