FREE IMPRISONED HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER ABDULHADI AL KHAWAJA!

http://t.co/d3ZqLmK

=====================

Bahrain's monarchy engages in outrageous human rights abuses, including the torture of wounded patients and doctors. The United States government has refused to condemn this because it sells billions of dollars in arms.

Thousands of Bahrainis have gathered outside the United Nations headquarters in the capital, Manama, to demand the immediate release of the country's top human rights activist.

The protest gathering dubbed ''sovereignty for the nation'' aimed at drawing attention to the detention of Abdulhadi al-Khawaja and to ask for UN intervention to help his release.

Khawaja, the co-founder and former president of the Bahrain Center for Human Right, was sentenced to life in prison by a military court last year. He is currently on a hunger strike to protest against his detention and Manama's brutal crackdown on protests.

The truth is that the presence of US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain is a key reason behind the West's media blackout over Manama crackdown on popular uprisings in the small kingdom.

Al-Qaeda urges regime change in Syria
Al-Qaeda's number one, Ayman al-Zawahiri, has called on anti-government elements in Syria to push for regime change in the country as the Arab League (AL) vows to boost support for the Syrian opposition.

In a video recording posted online on Sunday, the head of the terrorist group urged anti-regime groups in Syria to press ahead with their rebellion to overthrow the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

I would like to see Syrians from a *Syrian Youth Revolution* modeled after the *Yemen Youth Revolution,* supporting a democracy free of foreign domination. I would like to see all people in the Middle East, from Palestine to Bahrain, live in a free democracy. Syrians should not be fighting for the West, and especially not Israel.

Yes, the US, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are hijacking the Syrian revolution. The UN General Assembly already passed an Arab League Peace Plan in December, calling for an end in fighting, a withdrawal of the military from major cities and an observer mission. The newly vetoed UN resolution was adding changes in the regime.

The US and its allies are fighting for control of the Syrian regime, not democracy. The Arab League's proposals are similar to Yemen's GCC Deal, which changes one man but keeps the regime in power.

In comments today to Russian media, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has accused unnamed Western states of secretly sending arms and advising the Syrian rebel factions, warning the move was fueling a crisis.

Ryabkov also condemned NATO and the Arab League for attempting to use the UN Security Council to facilitate a regime change in Syria, saying the council was "not a tool for intervention in internal affairs" and threatening "drastic measures" if the policy continues.

The majority of respondents to a new survey believe the presence of US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain is a key reason behind the West's media blackout over Manama crackdown on popular uprisings in the small kingdom.
