If you are an aggressive player as white and don't mind gambitting a pawn for some play, then you might want to consider 1 e4 c6 2 d4 d5 3 Nc3 dxe 4 Bc4 Nf6 5 f3, which transposes into a line of the Blackmar-Diemer gambit. I find it's good for getting the black player out of their comfort zon...

@freethinkin123 Yes, you're right there is no "knockout blow", but it's a lot easier to play for white and black has to defend very accurately just to stay in the game. I wouldn't have thought you'd want to voluntarily go into this line as black, especially in a 3 minute game!

In reply to your first comment, you said it was "worth considering", so I considered it! And in reply to your second comment, yes, you have a point there...I think I was actually looking at the position after 15 Bxf6 (so add 1 to all of the move numbers in my previous comment). Having considered ...

It's funny how often in the King's Gambit one inaccuracy by Black (like 11 ... g4) can destroy their whole position! By the way, in case you want to know for next time, my engine seems to like 8 Be3 or h3, both with slight advantage to white.

I would definitely have gone with h4 at 19:00, with the plan of Rf8-f7-h7, advancing the h-pawn and moving the knight to cover the queening square. I would imagine that white could interfere with this plan in some way, but it seems like a better try than hxg, which just seems to leave white sitti...

@shinyninetales999 Yes, or I think 32 ... Qa2 also avoids having to lose the queen...if 33 Rd1, then 33 ... Qe2 34 Rc2 Qb5 and the queen escapes. I think black just resigned because he had a miserable position; his queenside pawns are soon to drop off, and he has no counter-play.

Interesting game! 3 ... Nf6 in the opening was dubious; 4 fxe Nxd5 just leaves white a clear pawn up. Also, like someone has already said, 8 Nf3 should've been considered as gaining a tempo on the queen to develop a piece can't be wrong. Please more Kings Gambit games! I don't think I have ever s...

I'm wondering if 30 ... Re7 is a better way to double rooks on the e-file? It seems that with 30 ... Re6 you are preventing your knight from moving as it is pinned to the rook.

@kingscrusher I know this video is quite old, but in response to your question about the opening, I think 4 Bxd5 is correct and to be preferred over exd5, but White maybe went wrong a little with 5 Nf3 as it seems like you're gambiting a pawn for not much compensation, and Nc3 seems more solid.
