Mine That Bird got lucky, it was a down year for three year old males in 2009. He finished last here. It sucks, in 2009 MTB didn't win a single race after the Derby, same with 2010 KD winner Super Saver, and Animal Kingdom didn't win the Preakness or the Belmont.

Summer Bird only won the Eclipse award for Champion three year old male because, except for Rachel Alexandra, 2009 was a down year for three year olds in my opinion. Look at Mine That Bird, who won the Derby well, and had a game run at the Preakness and Belmont, and then never won another race.
