Sunny Deol (Born as Ajay Singh Deol) (Punjabi: ਅਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਿਓਲ, Hindi: अजय सिंह देओल, Urdu: اَجے سِںہ دِیول) Born on October 19, 1961 in New Delhi, India. He is a National Film Awards winning film actor of Punjabi descent. He has two sons named Ranveer Singh and Rajveer Singh.

Sunny Deol was born in New Delhi, India, to veteran actor Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur. He has a younger brother, Bobby Deol, who is also an actor; two sisters who are settled in California; and two half-sisters, Esha Deol, an actress and Ahana Deol, from his father's Second marriage to actress Hema Malini. His wife is Pooja Deol and he has two Sons Ranveer and Rajveer. He launched Dimple's daughter opposite his own brother in the film "Barsaat". His cousin Abhay Deol is also currently an actor. He always wanted to be an actor being the son of the famous actor, Dharmendra. Sunny finished his schooling from Sacred Heart High School, Santacruz (Mumbai). He attended Podar College in Matunga (Mumbai).He showed a great interest in acting,Dharmendra noticed his potential.Dharmendra sent him to England to study acting.There He joined theatre called the Old Web Theatre in Birmingham, England where he studied theatre and acting.He had joined the gym with Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone. Ranveer will soon be starting a career in Bollywood, as he turns 18 this year. Rajveer is 14 year.

Sunny is mainly known for movies in action genre. Sunny Deol had a superhit debut in his home production Betaab (1983). He went through a lean phase for a couple of years until Arjun (1985). What followed were a bunch of hits in Paap Ki Duniya (1988), Tridev (1989), Chaalbaaz (1989),Vishwatma , vardi, kshaktriya etc. His defining moment as an actor came with another home production Ghayal, a film that won him the National award for the Best actor along with the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor.Apart from that he has also appeared in some above average movies like Joshiley, Sultnaut, Sohni Mahiwal,Samundar, He was critically acclaimed for his hit movie Dacait which was directed by Rahul Rawail . Yateem is another movie which shows his capability as an actor.

Sunny Deol delivered huge hits through the nineties in Narsimha (1991), Lootere (1993), Damini(1993), Darr (1993). His supporting actor role of a drunk lawyer in 'Damini' (1993) fetched him all the awards & accolades in Bollywood. However his performance in Darr (1993) was not well received by critics and audiences alike leaving Shahrukh Khan to win overwhelming praise for his performance. In the mid nineties he delivered five big hits in a row - Jeet (1996), Ghatak (1996), Ajay (1996), Ziddi (1997) & Border (1997).

Sunny Deol's biggest blockbuster till date came in the year 2001, with the all time blockbuster Gadar - Ek Prem Katha. The film shattered all records at the Indian box-office. Sunny continued his streak with Indian and Farz (2001) & The Hero (2003). Among his last few movies Apne (2007) & Heroes (2008) have done well in box office.

As a director
As a director sunny deol has not been so successful so far. Sunny Deol made his directorial debut with Dillagi (1998) starring himself, younger brother Bobby Deol & Urmila Matondkar. The film was a box office disaster. Sunny Deol's next movie is The Man(2009) which is an action packed film. It also starrs Shilpa Shetty

Ghatak is one of the biggest hit of bollywood in the year 1996 as was darr, jeet and Gadar-ek prem katha. 'Gadar-ek prem katha' the last hit sunny deol has given and there has been gossips that the sequel of Gadar is being planned. Well, if it does then it would be great as the original was the biggest hit of the year it released and made a record sales, however ghajini have overtaken it, but it took 6 years for any bollywood film to do better than gadar on on first week of the release.

Recently released Apne was also a success. the film brought the three Deols together for the first time, however bobby had worked with older brother sunny before (dillagi, shaheed, and Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya.)
