Basically, a scientist and a christian (for the sake of my point, let's say they are not intertwined. That's another discussion entirely) are both given a picture of an egg and told it exists somewhere in the sky. The christian, contempt to merely believe that the egg exists just because the paper states so, might go on to take the drawing itself literally, maybe even praying to said egg in times of need. The scientist, ever in pursuit of knowledge and understanding, would try to track who wrote the paper, where the paper came from, studying the sky in the clearness of day, trying to discern myth from fact. This is the worst part however; even if the scientist is able to prove on multiple levels that there is no egg in the sky, there is no guarantee that the christian would believe him, as his faith allows him to bypass logic. Why would one betray the false all-knowing absolution of faith for the proven theories and truths of science?? : /

Omgoodness!! Is it possible we've found a religious person who's not trying to shove the bible down throats and actually has a structured argument for their view?? No way!! But in all seriousness, there is no way to prove many of the biblical tales actually occurred, and consequently, the ones particularly hard to observe evidence for are the ones involving the supernatural (aka the story of moses and egypt and all that business). My point is that the beliefs that stem from the bible, and different religions associated with, are largely based upon the core principle of faith. Some argue that all have varying degrees of faith, and while this may or may not be true, no one can argue that those in pursuit of knowledge and the understanding of science are less founded than those who are contempt, even after realizing what they believe in may or may not (and probably the latter) be true, still share hold in such beliefs as their religion instructs.

Enoch2 Thank-you for stopping by as I have said before everyone is entitled to their own beliefs I place mine in science, medicine & technology. I do not go around telling others they are inferior or in some way lacking the way a large majority of those who believe like the user scott12ify has done repeatedly on mine & others pages. I am curious to ask what are you in reference to by stating "Darkness (lies)" please clarify?.
You mentioned prophecy a lot of religious people have claimed over & over several end of word predictions however they have never come to fruition your thoughts on the accuracy of those would be interesting.

Hi, I just saw your comment on scott12ify, just wanted to say that I was a secular student of the Bible and religions as literature--not as truth. But I subjected the arguments of the skeptics AGAINST the Bible to their own standard of skepticism--and found the Bible MUCH STRONGER. I have never found anything provably false in the Scriptures, either historically or in application.

If you study prophecy written thousands of years before Christ, you will see Christ clearly predicted and described. This IS enough to fully satisfy rational men that the Bible is the Word of God.

Since I believe the Scriptures are the Word of truth, then the more my mind is transformed into its pattern, the more filled my mind is with THE truth and THE light and THE love. And the more darkness (lies) are driven out.

Dear scott12ify, Not everyone believes in God and reads the Bible, so get over it and keep your religious views out of our lives.

scott12ify I too enjoy my work because I make a difference in the lives of those who need my help, I do not need to have fables or palms going around my head I have treatment plans diagnostic methods & patient history going through my mind at work. Your claim infers the bible is the word of God however it was written by man as a species we are more prone to error then most, therefore what is to say that over 2'000 years ago some men voted what could go into to & what could not based on their own ideals forcing others to support them. So what I am saying I don't need the bible & it's stories to be a better person I have my family, friends, work colleagues who influence my life, as you see they have more of an impact on the individual then anything else.

My philosophy is that you can take the scriptures with you wherever you go! You can take them to work, shopping, while driving, or to school! Have the scriptures playing constantly in your subconsious mind instead of some popular song. I used to dread going to work until I started scripture internalization, now I look forward to it!!!
