There are alternatives to using harmful pesticides such as crop rotation and some plants are even naturally repellent. There are also pesticide-free produce available.

Again I must compliment your argument but all the products I buy are free from chemicals. Also your argument is really based on the fact you assume I think am morally superior because I choose not to exploit animals. That is completely not the case, I just choose not to. If other people choose to do the same then I am happy for them. If you want to eat or use animals then that is your choice. My original comment was to point out the fact, just because you treat the horses you use to the best of your ability, doesn't mean ever horse carriage owner does. Just as every "pet" owner doesn't.

That's very points you make but you forget one key difference. Whether animals die, or not, in production of vegan foods, their death is totally accidental. The production of animal based products works solely on the deliberate demise, and often torture, of these animals.
Also, it is not difficult for someone to home grow vegetable based foods to provent any such accidental deaths.

regardless of whether it is or isnt, more plants are needed indirectly through a meat eating diet than directly through a vegan diet. It takes about 9 grams of grain to produce 1 gram of meat

Well you make a decent argument but the death of mice, insects and other animals as such are killed more due to the production of meat as the use of grains are higher when raising animals for meat. Plus veg can easily be grown from home.

Looks like you look after your horses really well. They don't have any problems with carriage horses here in Australia, wonder why they are so fussed with it over there? I wish you luck with everything, your horses are beautiful.
