Reviewing The Young and the Restless:1973:-Brad Elliots son dies whilst he is operating on him.-Distraught,Brad drives off and away from Chicago-Brads car and wallet are stolen-He catches a ride with a truckee who drops him off in Genoa city-The man who stole Brads wallet and car crashes and is burnt beyond recognition.Everyone who knew Brad in Chicago thinks he is deceased.-Stuart Brooks,owner and publisher of 'The Genoa city chronicle' hires Brad-Stuarts daughter Leslie,who never dated and was more comfortable at her piano is drawn to Brad and eventually falls in love with his supportive and encouraging personality towards her budding career as a concert pianist.-Christabel,Stuarts second youngest daughter of four,was interested in Snapper Foster,but when Stuart learned that Snapper was casually seeing someone else told Chris.Chris moved out of home and whilst in a bar,after an unsuccessful day job hunting,meets a man who seems pleasant,buys her a drink and offers to escort her safely home.Once there however,he rapes her.Jill,Snappers sister and the baby of the family of 3 siblings wins the trust of a rich and powerful reclusive multi millionaress Katherine Chancellor.Jill convinces her to hire her as her personal secretary.1974:Snapper offers Chris emotional support and patience after her rape,but continues seeing the other person,Sally.Sally throws away her birth control pills and becomes pregnant to Snapper who is spending more time with Chris.Snapper encourages Chris to file charges against her attacker,but unfortunately because of lack of evidence,he is not convictedDetermined all the more to stand by her side,Snapper proposes marriage to Chris.It takes a long time for her to accept but eventually she does.Sally leaves Genoa city with child and a new husband,Chris and Snapper marry.Lorie,the second oldest of Stuarts four daughters returns home for the wedding from Europe.It's a happy family occassion except for the continuing jealousy and rivalry between Lorie and "preferred child",Leslie.After an uneasy sexual start,Chris and Snapper work through her problems together.When Leslie confides in Lorie that she's in love with Brad,undermining that relationship became Lories goal.Lorie starts work at the Chronicle working close with Brad and using the proximity to feed him misinformation about how Leslie felt about him,whilst she's away concert touring.Lorie convinces Brad that being a pianist is more important to Leslie than any man,and that Leslie would only see a man as impeding her career plans.Meanwhile,at the Chancellor house,Katherines alchoholic outbursts draw Jill and husband Phillip closer as they each help the other deal with her.Eventually they become more and more attracted and fall in love.Brock,Katherines son from her first marriage,returns home no longer the son she once knew.Once into sex and drugs,Brock is now clean and devout christian.1975 On the night of a major concert in Detroit,Leslie becomes anxious for emotional support from the man she loves.She had invited Brad to attend by letter,which Lorie had intercepted.Lorie having convinced Brad Leslie wasn't interested in him,seduces him and in no time marries him.When Leslie learns of this during a concert she goes back on stage but her mind isn't on her performance and when emotions buildup Leslie has an emotional breakdown midway.Ashamed of her public failing and deeply hurt by Brads abandonment of her for LorieLeslie runs off stage deeply traumatised and into the stormy night.She is found by a police officer but is unresponsive to his questioning so she is placed temporarilly into a mental recovery facility as a Jane Doe...to be continued
