My background was originally in hospitality from where I moved into business in the worlds of advertising, marketing, sales, occupational psychology, talent management, e-learning and business training.I have always believed in shooting for your dreams, learning along the way, and in not having regrets. So In my 20s I launched a media sales company, at 28 I founded Edventurenet (training and e-learning) and at 34 I co-founded a talent management consulting company. The truth is - I fell on my face a few times, but as I said, I learned quite a bit along the way!
The years of determination, hard work and hard knocks have gave me some very good experience in sales, marketing, finance, operations, technology, strategy and management. Passions for education, quality, performance management, psychology, sustainability and economics, have enabled me to speak, consult and write on these and other subjects with an emphasis on investment and innovation.
All this gave me the understanding and desire to make a big change to an area where there has proven to be signifiant market failure. The underfunding and resulting inefficiency of early stage innovation and development - particularly in the areas of Sustainability, Education and Cleantech, because of the climate change and economic challenges - is a massive threat to us all. At 38 I decided to do something about it - and founded The Global Sustainability Challenge.
