About this user
"Sexual Orientation" is a highly politicized issue and, unfortunately, that politicization permeates professional fields. Divergent thinking about this issue is sharply criticized. I created this account, not only to give voice to my views, but also to create dialogue with people about this issue in a respectful manner. I am trying to understand individual experiences, whether they consider themselves gay, ex-gay, or other. Reason and science have led me to conclude that popular notions regarding sexual orientation (especially its mutability or innateness...and even its existence as a real entity) are not true. Although I strongly believe in the rights of all people to believe and behave in the way the wish, and I condem discrimination and hate toward those who perceive themselves as being gay, I believe many of the messages pushed and held by many people in society are simply not true. More importantly, I believe these messages can be especially harmful and marginalizing to some individuals, particularly those who have personal values and identities (often religious) that conflict with the way society tells them to interpret their sexual feelings. I desire to offer validation to those who do not want to be LGBTQ, etc. It is O.K. for an individual to believe there are more important things in life than being arbitrarily guided to and fro by his/her sexual drives.
