    StMartinTours StMartinTours commented:

Fry's remarks are a concatenation of historical fallacies, fuzzy thought, and ignorance. Jeeves &Wooster S04E06 Part 3/5

Jeeves &Wooster property of ITV. "The Ties That Bind".

Adapted from the works of P.G. Wodehouse.

    StMartinTours StMartinTours commented:

Why the heck would anyone need to identify Dante as "The Florentine poet Dante Alighieri" and his best known work as the "Divina Commedia", when it is universally known in English as the "Divine Comedy"? This is the screenwriters trying too hard to make Jeeves sound erudite.

A fine piece, but the beauty of this type of music is spoiled by tuning in boring equal temperament.

    StMartinTours StMartinTours commented:

@imshadi The Romance forms "verita'", "verdad", etc., derive from the accusative Latin form "veritatem" rather than the nominative "veritas". This is why they are accented on the "a". However, you're exactly right about the "e" and "a" in "veritas" being long.
