However, it's the serving of warrants in this manner, by hair-trigger SWAT teams, that seems un-necessary and over the top, needlessly endangering bystanders (in this case the wife and child, and possibly neighbors too), and the police themselves.

@acrandy2002 *Sigh* The New Madrid Fault can and will produce a big earthquake someday. But it is not a large enough fault to produce much over an 8. Geology 101, if it's still taught well. Also, the last big quakes were in the winter = relatively low river levels.

Many factual errors in the news report: Much more than Cairo was at risk, amount of explosives, 100 homes were flooded, not 300. Even Gen. Walsh saying 'unprecedented' is overstatement, the 1927 flood was likely worse, and "Probable Maximum Flood" means it's expected in a reasonable time frame.
