Former Instructor of Physical Science and Mathematics, I am now a Health Physics Radiological Control Technician, working in nuclear labs and reactors across the country.
I started teaching Physics and Mathematics in 1994, mostly as an adjunct instructor in numerous universities such as Boise State University, Eastern Idaho Technical College, and Idaho State University. I was responsible for the Physical Sciences, Astronomy, Calculus, and Chemistry. I found my most successful niche in Developmental Mathematics, working with students aged 18-80 coming back to school after a long absence. Seeking more, I bumped myself upstairs to a Masters Degree in Adult Education in 2003, and then to nuclear work in Health Physics in 2008.
In the middle of all that, I was briefly a Hollywood Effects Artist in the mid-90s, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Worker in the mid 00's, working as a counselor for emotional disturbed kids.
Lifetime memories include marching in the Tournament of Roses Parade, and performing on stage with Weird Al Yankovic, both in 2007. I also occasionally help independent filmmakers with effects design, being listed on the Internet Movie Database.

About Me:
Through film-making friends, I received an invitation to Skywalker Ranch in August of 2004 and met George Lucas personally in December 2006.
I lived in Los Angeles for a couple years as a special effects artist, creating gore-esque effects of blood and such for low-budget horror films. Now I live in the middle of nowhere but use the internet to find my own audience, collaborating with filmmakers in San Francisco with FX design for independent movies.
Married since 1999 with 2 kids.
Dont just sit on your couch watching your life go by, DO SOMETHING!!!
Country:
United States
Occupation:
Science Teacher/ Radiological Control Technician
Companies:
Idaho State University, Eastern Idaho Technical College, Boise State University
Schools:
University of Idaho
Interests:
Halloween might be called the FIRST holiday ever, and I appropiately start celebrating it around August. I read golden age science fiction (it was a lot more imaginative 50 years ago), and write a few essays about my experiences. I am a member of the 501st Legion of Imperial Stormtroopers. And the Bob Layton and David run of IRON MAN is the definitive accomplishment.
Movies:
LOST, Futurama, and Battlestar Galactica (The Old and the New). Star Wars is the best series of movies ever made (and I include ALL 6 movies in that statement), but I am a sucker for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid as well.
Music:
RUSH, The Cult, and Joe Satriani
Books:
If you have not read the LENSMEN by E.E. Smith, then you have not read sci fi. Every other sci fi show you have ever seen, read, or even heard about can draw a direct line right up to Lensmen's back door. Its fingerprints are all over Star Wars, Star Trek, and Babylon 5, just to name the biggies. Read them and you'll be a lot smarter for it.
Then, read APRIL 1865 by Jay Winik for hard-boiled American History.

The final frontier is far, far away.
