The only different in the FAMU and BCU version , BCU writes three part harmonies for their chants, and each section is taught to listen for their pitch. But FAMU has a much bigger and richer sound. All though I am a rattler and 100 for life, I do dig some of the stuff BCU does.

I am a FAMU Marching 100 Alumni..I dig this version on SOS..but the trumpets what the hell are they doing? No need to over blow and it messing up the sound of the band. But I do like this version especially the bridge

Yeah baby! my freshman year in the 100's. Love that sound! the upperclassmen really challenged us back in the day. Would pull you too the side and say let's hear it. You had to be on top of your music that's for sure.

I would have to agree with sweetness on this.. it is a little big sloppy.

My Junior year in the hundreds. Looking at the hundreds back then and now. Man we were small we were only 250 strong back in 81. Love that sound!!

FAMU band has over 400 hundred people, that's why they are a bigger band. When I marched in the 100's back in the 80's we were only 225

Ha ha..As a Alumni FAMU Marching 100. Much as I love all of our HBCU's their is still only one orginial sound, and that is the 100's. I like SU and especially the J5's they are smooth. But this arrangement isn't one of Southern's best performances. All sections are competing with each other.

@famu98ee Well they should have just went back to the band room. That was a great show from the 100's. I remember when we went to Southern back in the 80's we danced them out of the stadium.

I really hope this was a band camp recording...other wise this is not the 100's I marched in. The rattler is WEAK people are running and not executing properly. The DM's all over the place...come on hundred's get the legacy alive.

Although I am Alum of the FAMU Marching 100's.. The JSU DM"s are Bringing it Hard!!
