Profile: Shauno Isomura, 18 ,started to play the violin at the age of 7. He currently studies Performance Major in Violin at the University of Auckland. Shauno regularly receives awards in numerous competitions; recently, He won the Concerto Competition, which was held in Tauranga. He also was last years winner of the KBB National Young Performers Competition. He has gained his ATCL recital diploma at the age of 14 and was recently awarded the APO secondary school scholarship. In May 2011 he Performed the Violin Concerto in D by Tchaikovsky with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra at the Auckland Town Concert Hall. This year he has been chosen for the position of an Associate Concert Master of the New Zealand National Youth Orchestra, was invited to perform at the Final event of the Rugby World Cup Road show tour, and was a semi-finalist in the New Zealand National Young Performers Award 2011.
Shauno not only performs as a soloist, he has also been part of many groups, he recently traveled to Australia to compete in the Australian international music festival as the 1st violin of the Spiritoso quintet which not only was chosen to perform at the opening of the festival, but they were also given a gold award. He has participated in many orchestras, and is currently a member of the waitakere city orchestra, the concertmaster of the llbcco, which has been awarded a silver award 2 years in a row, and was one of the solists of the lbc concert band, which also received a silver award last year in the KBB music festival.
