So I just saw inglorious bastards. Do Germans really use their thumb when indicating the number 3 with their fingers? The film also reaffirms the perception with which Americans view Germans and their language as synonymous with Nazism. This came to mind when reading about the films promotion in Germany where all nazi iconography is removed. Germans it seems go to great lengths to avoid the topic, while Americans only ever experience German in the context of WWII Nazism. Sometimes I think other ideological rifts are no less dramatic.
