The beginning sounds like total BS... You cannot possibly save 1500 lbs by swapping a V8 with this. A modern V8 + transmission doesn't even come close to 1500 lbs, not to mention you still need accessories with this design, such as electric motors (heavy!), generator (also not light!), reductio...

I've always been under the impression that the bands come off when they are ready, once the wax/glue has warmed up enough to become pliable... trying to remove them cold can sometimes tear the wrapper if a dab of glue has missed its target during production - learned this the hard way unfortunat...

@snake10566 It depends on the rod material and production process, However, stamping parts creates stress risers (a starting point for fractures) that can lead to failure. It seems unlikely, but it happens more often than one would expect - and not only on con-rods.

@Vacmasterthegreat With all 3 rods back, the farthest right shifter is 1st. When you click it ahead the middle shifter is engaged, which is 2nd. When you click that one ahead it engages the left shifter, which controls D (3rd), OD (4th), neutral, reverse and park.
