About this user

I love to write and perform my own music! I write about whatever inspires me: some days that's my faith, some days it's the women who have been in my life, some days it's letting go of past suffering or pain, some days it's pure joy, and some days it is my emotions poured out onto the page and then the stage. I love music!!! I would sit and write and play all day; if I didn't have a need to pay the bills. I've written over 125 songs in 10 years. I've played my own shows and been on the bill with others. I would like to see the day when I can get my albums finished and on the market. I'd like to front a band; playing music I wrote. Music is my biggest passion outside of theology and ministry.

I took on the "Special K" stage name in 2006 while preforming for a talent show (the original duo name was "J-AG and Special K"). I laid the name aside a year later to perform in a trio called "Portaman" (because the drummer had a thing for the actress). Ironically, the drummer ("J-AG," of the former duo) was unable to make the show; so Portman was a bass and guitar duo (we swapped instruments during the show). In 2008, the first Special K T-Shirts were produced (you can see the prototype in a few of my videos). In addition to the merchandise, 2008 saw a rough-cut web release of my debut album; "Of Loss and Love." I was the final act at a coffee house gig in March of '08, I played a solo show for the Salvation Army in April 2008, and joined forces with another drummer for a second Special K show at the Salvation Army, and finally, in the fall of 2008 I played another coffee house show (which contained a set list resembling my album, "Custom Tailored"). I moved to the state of Washington and continued to produce more music for the album; additionally, I began the "Re-Tailored" project (which saw the dawn of a "Re-Tailored" and "Custom Tailored" T-Shirt). After returning to Colorado in 2010, I continued working on pieces for "Re-Tailored" and was slated to form "Special K and the Multigrain Coalition" for a full band concert. Unfortunately, life took things another direction and "the Multigrain Coalition" has yet to see a live show. In the midst of hardship and struggle I sought to create a new project: "Tim Kellogg Presents, Special K, Redemption." The "Redemption" project gave me a new burst of creativity and became one of the largest collections of pieces I have produced in the last decade. With the "Redemption" album complete, I began production of "Hexad Refrain," my sixth album, and fist project under the Loaded Microphone Productions umbrella.
