About this user
My background is in broadcast TV and I set up Peckham-based Community TV Trust [CTVT] in late 1990s. It manages Southwark.TV - which itself launched in February 2003 and now has over fifty local partner groups and schools. The evolving of The Southwark Template [WEB-EVENT-TV] through running and growing Southwark.TV has led to a clear definition of what constitutes local media. We are currently watching plans evolve for local TV at Government level. I get to sit on a keynote panel at Westminster Media Forum seminar in mid-October to help that debate forwards. I am not against people putting together local broadcast TV stations, I advocate spending less and activating projects such as Southwark.TV to work with communities truly at the grass roots.
