About video game music:
There are so many great compositions in video games, especially from japanese composers, yet they are largely unkown. They are usually more powerful than film scores, because these have to be cut to fit the movie, stay in the background, suit the mainstream appeal.. whereas in video games, composers have the chance to create something unique, bring up unusual pieces that others can simply ignore while playing, and, most importantly, set accents by choosing striking melodies, rythms and structures.

The best example is the music of the Final Fantasy game series, for which Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu mainly have composed. Its compositions change in complexity and style, often having a sense of modern romanticism, and there are true gems to be found even for pure classical music lovers.
