Thanks for your comment. I just wrote a detailed response and the youtube site ate it :(
Please check out the pictures on the Soloflex Forever Facebook page of additional mods I have made before proceeding to the welding shop. To answer your question, the rod is springy but safe, a hassle to use, and has holes drilled in the ends for safety cotter pins. I think that a free bench works better. If you leave the mainframes in the front, make sure that the bench fits properly. Some do, some do not.
In the future I might get more modifications done at a fabrication shop. I have many ideas, but need to stick to the most practical ones that take up the least room.
Sorry about the abbreviated response, the one I wrote a minute ago was much better
G'day mate, I'm in the process of welding two Soloflexes together to function as a power rack. Your video (and only your video) was the inspiration. I see you've employed a long bar for a bench pin of sorts. I'm curious how that works out for you. Does it flex much under load? Does it simply slide through the holes on the spines? Thanks for any info you care to provide.
! My hard drive with most of my Soloflex pictures, videos, modifications, ideas and plans has packed it in :( much of my health, fitness and workout information was on it as well as exercise equipment ideas. It took a long time to accumulate all of it (Years). A whole bunch of my drawings for exercise stuff has been scanned onto PDF, and the original drawings were shredded. Years of workout training diary could be lost too.
I hope that I can get the data on the drive recovered.
:(
I had a bunch of things I was going to post with pictures and explanations. If the drive cannot be recovered, this could be delayed for quite a while.
