SOCADIA [so-KAY-dee-uh]
1. an imaginary utopia in Southern California.
2. an electronic rock band comprised of Stephan Martin and Dusty Schaller, two vagabonds in Los Angeles
with an adventurous spirit and a passion for honest expression.
THE SOUND dark, sexy, electronic rock nods to bands like Depeche Mode, She Wants Revenge, and
Smashing Pumpkins. Steady, pulsing beats. Smooth bass lines, insistent guitars, and layers of synths
added to taste. Clear, biting vocals oozing with disembodied paranoia. Lyrics about broken relationships;
breaking relationships; overcoming; and; ultimately, blissfully letting go.
Life can be overwhelming, says Martin. Our songs and our show attempt to process the confusion of
modern life and replace it with sensuality and in-the-moment energy.
Socadia is a refuge for us and the listener to disappear for a while, adds Schaller. Youre free to dance,
scream, cry, whatever you need to do. No ones judging you - just latch on to the pulse and vibe.
Socadia released their first album, COY, in 2008. COY was self-produced, and mixed by Masaki Liu
(Black Rebel Motorcycle Club).

Following COYs release, the band enlisted director Andrea Giacomini (Gnarles Barkley, Fatboy Slim) to
shoot music videos for the singles Always Near and Land of Peasants. Always Near won the 2008
SXSW Click video competition, and was a finalist at HDFest and ViMus in Portugal. Land of Peasants
was screened at L.A. FilmFest 2009 alongside videos from Bjork, Depeche Mode, Bloc Party, and more.
COY caught the attention of RedBull, and in Sept of 2008 Socadia was flown to Austria to perform at
RedBull Headquarters Hangar-7.
Socadia spent 2009 recording a follow-up record and playing countless shows around Los Angeles. The
new album, [trees for the forest], will be released in February 2010. The first single, The End of the
