So I've been using the Cam Caddie for a month now and my videos have been coming out better than I expected. They are easily as steady as the shots I've seen in videos demonstrating the Merlin steadicam that actually goes for twice as much as Camtrol.

I checked videos for both Opteka and Cam Caddie as well as their Amazon presence. Though they both seem similar it does look as though Cam Caddie is the long-term purchase as some have said on their reviews of the 2, for a couple dollars more.

Hey nice moves, if you guys need to take night shots I highly recommend picking up a Cam Caddie it can handle mounting lights and a monitor with your camera easily. I had problems with the X-grip becoming wobbly and it had too small of a frame for my DSLR with batterypack.

If you get sick of the wobbly nature of the X-grip check out the Cam Caddie it has a much more professional design with room to advance your setup. Kid's pretty good, I'm sure you'll want to take more videos of him.
I don't trust Opteka personally, I had a nightmare using the X-grip. I gained much more success using a Cam Caddie to get smooth shots.
