Review and possible revision of the treaty that governs the way the internet works will be taking place this year in December in Dubai, hosted by the United Nations. Thankfully they will have the tech experts advising them on any changes to the treaty, but sadly, some countries, namely China and Russia, are quite keen on imposing even more restrictive measures on the internet to protect their governments from political dissent or protests. Considering the failure of the American congress to understand the internet, China's abuse of social media and Hollywood's interference with trade agreements, the UN could very easily fuck over the entire internet, either out of incompetence or greed. Like imposing a "pay as you click" scheme.

Recent meetings have been held in Australia by the government and major Australian ISP services, and of course, the public and civil societies were not invited.
