SPOILERS:
So in my walkthrough, the end boss fight I had Bo saving Faye from being hit by the Base Commander, Phillips. He couldn't partake in the battle, and eventually died. Cain never resurfaced either. But I found out that if you max out every party member's trust, you can make Cain reappear for the final battle, and he will take the hit for Faye, so Bo can live.
It's possible to have other endings - Bo can betray you if your trust is not high enough. Rachel will take the hit for Faye instead of Bo in this case.
Anyway, the ending I originally got I think is more dramatic - having Dan's best friend die at the end of the game. But if a sequel to this game does happen, it'll be good to have Bo there again, and also Cain.
There's not much difference from the ending I got - except the appearance of Cain, and a few words from Bo at the end, but I thought I'd share it anyway. I edited out a bit of the fight towards the end, because it was dragging on. Hope you guys enjoy, and remember to give it a thumbs up!
