When South African's #1 soul group The Flames decided to stay and perform in the United Kingdom (for obvious political reasons), they could not have predicted that their carreer would soon make a swift change. Discovered by Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys, the group would soon be contracted under the Brother Records label and made the journey to yet another continent. In the U.S. they made an excellent album under their new name "The Flame". Soon after unfortunately the group would disband, but 2 members - Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar would soon join strengthen the Beach Boys new line-up.

The Flames had already recorded 4 albums and several singles in South Africa (including their #1 hit "For Your Precious Love"). Not many people know though that during their stay in England, The Flames recorded a one-off single called Streamliner (a single backed with a recording by another group called The Several). Although another cover (albeit an original this time), in this song one can already hear the transition the band was going through. (less info)
