Smart Street are Bristol's foremost improvised folk pop comedy duo as far as we know. We sing the old songs and dream of performing to fishermen as they haul their wares from the deep with spray soaking the deck and with our Sou'westers gleaming in the midday sun.
Smart STreet is Drew Lorenzo and Peter 'Rockforth' G-Lover.
Drew believes in his heart that he is a pirate, and also an island. He is shantieman to the great Blackbeard, which is why he often sports a black beard himself. Whenever Drew is on land you'll find him in dark seaside town pubs regaling tales of derring-do from his time at sea with a gusto which lets you know that although his life has been hard, it has been lived to the full. Drew rarely pays for his drinks.
Peter is the reincarnation of Bruce DIckinson, the still-living rock legend, Iron Maiden lead vocalist and pilot. Peter has never been happier than when in an enclosed space with other large hairy men sweating and bumping together in a regular fashion with heavy guitar type music blaring from a set of over-sized speakers. To keep fit Peter spends 3 hours a day double-pedalling his kick drum whilst performing peculiar and complicated jazz fills on his drumkit with his best two hands. Peter harbours ambitions of playing drums in Wembley and being lowered from the roof by a hydraulic dragon arm during his first drum solo.
