There are so many young guitarists (or old??) that think they can surf YT all day and learn to play SRV and Hendrix...etc. It doesn't work like that fellas. Put in a good 4-5 years, several hours a day, (at least) learning the instrument, learn how to play rhythm (correctly), learn some scales ...

You can sing well, but the tone is terrible IMO. Back the reverb and echoe off, get a good, rich, clean tone and let your voice do the work.

@millyluvsrag This is the right key. It's in the key of E.(or Eb if you wanna get technical) Hendrix tuned his guitar down a half step to Eb. If your playing to the original recording, no telling what kind of studio things they did to effect the sound. Tune your guitar to Eb and play it.

I'm a blues guy, but I'm trying to develop some different techniques. SRV didn't speed pick shred metal, but he held his pick like this all the time. It's something I started doing after I heard he did and it definitely seems to help with speed picking.

This is a very good lesson. I am all for new guitarists learning Hendrix and any of the other greats....but I'm not for people leaving rude comments b/c there are no tabs. Tablature has spawned a generation of guitar morons, that DO NOT know their instrument. If you can't watch what he's doing...
@pumukellll
You can purchase this complete lesson from the Mac App Store, for like 10 bucks. It's well worth it. The licks are in no particular order, just 50 of them, all styles of blues, even some jazzier, swingier stuff. A few of these licks quickly found a place in my arsenal. I would de...
