The medieval folkgroup Slag ende Stoot presents exciting and sparkling music from a period still touching the imagination of many! The Middle Ages, a time of mediaeval parties and festivities lasting days and nights, interwoven with music inspiring laughter and dancing. Music, which caused walls to tremble, people to laugh and to cry. Sometimes the music tells us a love story, or tales of war and battle. Other music conveys reconciliation or tells of drinking-bouts. Other songs have lyrics from Oriental cantigas. Stirring 16th century music is also part of the repertoire, along with original traditionals and own compositions and lyrics that mimics songs from the aforementioned periods. In a whirling spectacle, Mediaeval Folkgroup Slag ende Stoot brings you all of the above.

Slag ende Stoot was founded in 1998, by Cora van der Vrande, Bert Ridderbos and Flip Rodenburg, three living history actors, which were professional musicians in their daily life and who met each other as members of the same medieval society. They shared the same love for the medieval music and decided to start a medieval folkgroup.
And since that time Slag ende Stoot succeeded to make a name.
During those years the group has grown and now exists of 6 musicians. As a professional group, Slag ende Stoot has achieved many successes on both large and more intimate stages in the Netherlands and abroad. At their own concerts, at folk festivals and at historical events and fairs. They have given their support to historical documentaries and theatre and film productions.
