Regarding Goth music
While I can appreciate tunes by Melodic Metal bands such as Lacuna Coil, Theatre of Tragedy, and Nightwish I would like to point out to the MISINFORMED people that neither Lacuna Coil, Theatre of Tragedy OR Nightwish are "Goth" Music. it may contain goth elements in some of the videos, but it is far from being true Goth music.
Goth people DO NOT hate other people! RACISM HAS NO PLACE IN THE GOTH COMMUNITY!!
AWESOME TALENTED ARTIST!

Regarding the Goth Subculture
Many people are turned off when they hear the word "Goth" often due
to disinformation usually from the mainstream media especially in the U.S.
some erroneously associate it with a more recent subculture known as the "Emo" subculture which has absolutely
NOTHING to do with goth.
In fact the Goth subculture is over 30 years old!
It is a subculture which began in England during the early 1980s as
originally an offshoot of the Post-punk scene.
many bands in the original movement included Bauhaus, Siouxsie and
the Banshees, The Cure, the Damned, Joy Division, skeletal Family
and Sisters of Mercy among many others.
Bauhaus-Bela Lugosi's Dead is considered the first Goth single
which was released in the U.K in 1979
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
the genre has continued to diversify over the past 20 years.
The goth fashion is heavily influenced by punk, Victorian, Elizabethian era as well as silent films era stars such as Theda Bara.19th century novels have also been a major influence.
Regarding Goth women:
Goth women are far more interesting because they are!
they have more interest in culture such as music and art than the
average "Barbie" does and are generally well read.
The "Barbie" types are more obsessed with Designer clothes,
"celebrities" and monetary gain than anything involving Art, Music,
Literature of for that matter anything that requires a certain
degree of intellect!
It's time for more women in the U.S. to embrace the Goth style as
opposed to the atypical materialistic "Barbie" style with it's
attitude and it's high time more Men embrace Goth women!!
since the goth subculture is more respected and actually
celebrated in Europe and shunned in the U.S don't you think it's
time for a change for something a bit different than the atypical
'Barbie' scene(not that there ever was one)?
so, what's it gonna be American women, the continuation of the
perpetual "Barbie" styles of celebrities such as Jessica Simpson
who lack substance or a PROGRESSIVE move into the right direction
and
Embrace the Dark Romantic and Beautiful side of Goth?
About "Alternative" music.
well, it's pretty much been cooped to be used in exchange for anything mainstream anymore which is mass-marketed to mostly unsuspecting naive teenagers.
most of the so-called "Alt" Rock of the past decade or so is nothing but mediocre drivel at best.
The "Emo" style is a perfect example of this.
kids go back and listen to the old school stuff from the late 1970s post-punk era through the early 1990s "Dream Pop" era and NOT just anything that is tagged as "Goth". be a bit more adventurous!!
