DS convention), I told him hopefully John Karlen will be there along with Mitchell Ryan, Nancy Barrett and Alexandra Moltke, and of course all that were at 2011 New York.

As far as Karlen's roles, i think his most complex, interesting one was as the odd man out in "Daughters of Darkness". He was brilliant and sexy in that, and it's one of the most aesthetic and beautifully scored horror films with one of my favorite actresses, Delphine Seyrig.
Also, just felt like mentioning to Dark Shadows fans out there who may read this, that there's a great Kojak episode -- i think it's from Season one or two; i downloaded it off a bittorrent a couple years ago -- where Willie plays a heroin addict being used as an informant. He's very real and also cute in that role.

P.S. I very much appreciate you sharing the clilps of John Karlen from his many tv and film appearances. I don't know how you find them; i don't think it's been easy! I've always pretty much disliked soaps (except for what i consider the three great wonderful exceptoins: Dark Shadows, Mary Hartman and that Australian women's prison one -- i forget the name of it) -- but seeing an episode of "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing" from '67 is definitely a pleasure and IS interesting. There's something about that era -- with that fresh "mod" element everywhere, EVEN in soaps -- that makes it really fun to watch commercials, soaps, just about anything from that time-- i was seven/eight at the time, and starting in '68 Laugh-In was my favorite show. My parents knew how much i loved it and so Monday was the only night my parents let me stay up past 8PM! And it's fun seeing Karlen playing a naughty rich kid....

I love WIllie, Dark Shadows and John Karlen. I got to meet him at the Dark Shadows Festival in NJ two years ago -- looking forward to the one in Brooklyn coming up very soon (i live in brooklyn, which'll make it easier this time to get there!).

Anyway, i get a big kick out of your annotations. they really make my day when i'm depressed and since you have a complete knowledge of the show as a whole and a good knowledge of pop culture, PLUS a slightly offbeat sense of humor, they work out GREAT!!! I think the underlying gay and S&M implications re: Barnabas & Willie make for a lot of interesting humor.
