Miles Davis
Some great Miles video I'd never seen before. It's so nice to be able to see performances of people that you've only been able to listen to over the years.
Must Have Jazz
Here are some of my favorite straight ahead Jazz tunes. Great tunes & soloing throughout.
Fusion Favorites
In this playlist you will find some of my favorite fusion tunes that bridged the gap between my early rock years to the discovery of Jazz.
CTI Favorites
The CTI record label was my bridge from fusion to mainstream jazz. Listening to The Mahavisnhu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Weather Report, Headhunters etc. I found many of the musicians in those bands on some of the CTI albums. From there I found the classic jazz albums that the CTI roster had played on, Miles, Bluenote records etc...
Wayne Shorter's Bluenote Years
Wayne Shorter's Bluenote years were amazing! His writing brought a harmonic & melodic sense that had never been heard before bringing something totally new to the Jazz world. One of the master musicians of our time!
Bitches Brew
A landmark album by Miles that took me sometime to appreciate. Very organic with the essence of improvisation at it's core, an essential element found in all great Jazz. Miles was always looking ahead, not wanting to live in the past, finding great young musicians to make his visions proliferate. How many of the people on this album became greats on their own!
Brazilian Grooves
I love Brazilian music! Melody, harmony & rhythm are all here. This kind of music makes you want to move & sing. When cultures collide great things can happen. Beautiful music..... Beautiful people!
