The Master indeed! You can tell he still has that undying love of the drums he probably had starting out. I think that's true of a lot of us drummers that have gotten on in age yet still can't put the sticks down but that quality is always on display when I see the old clips of Philly Joe!

Well, this is MY favorite drummer. Just totally fresh and cool and like nothing before or since.

I had the same thing with parents wanting me to play guitar and skip the drums. Cept my hair didn't start falling out and I didn't get famous playing the drums!

@metallicaaddict451 Paiste used to make a Ludwig Standard set of cymbals in the late 50s through the 60s for Ludwig so a cowbell isn't out of the question. Some of the Ludwig Standard cymbals are actually sought out by vintage cymbal lovers for their sounds.

Dig the tribute to Sandy Nelsons "Teen Beat" at 3:30. I always suspected Bonzo tried to get Denny's snare sound off of that cut which is exactly like Bonzo's snare sound on "When The Levee Breaks".

Furthermore, if I may add, I think the sound you're getting from that Dyna is probably what Rogers had in mind way back when were developing that snare. Which is to say wonderful.

Hot damn, Magnaflows sound hellacious on a Mustang. The Competition series Magnaflow catback I have on my Challenger R/T sounds deep and smooth like this one does too.

BTW My Commander will not feed Berry's 200gr FP bullets at all yet it feeds Oregon Trails LaserCast 200g SWC like water. Berry's bullets do not impress me one bit but that Kimber Warrior sure does.

Well, here we are three years later and the streets are definitely not swarming with Challengers! Which is good for guys like me with Plum Crazy R/Ts, they'll hold their value and their appeal long after todays Camaro's and Mustangs have rusted away.

@Plexi335 Went through the same thing with a 1987XL and a 1959SLP and neither sounded right. A 1987 JCM800 2204 was all it took to get the tone I was searching for. No substitutes for the old iron in them old transformers IMO!!

@SDPickups It does help. I've been listening to some old Zeppelin Bootlegs from 1970 recently and that particular crunch and character he got then was pretty killer. I think this may be the route I end up taking with my R9 when I get around to it. Big thanks again Dave.
