My Maui is an Applehead Chocolate Point Siamese, Hana is a Calico, Puka is a White-Faced Cockatiel, and Lulu is a Cinnamon-Pearl Cockatiel. I am always grateful as to how well they manage to get along together, and for the tender companionship they offer.

@MrMcavity: Thanks for your lovely comments! Maui thanks you, too, for raving on so about his electric blue eyes. (He'll be impossible to live with now for the next few weeks. He's so conceited. LOL.) I've had Maui and Hana for around 10.5 years and the birds for just 2 years. I took pains to integrate them together over the course of 4 months or so. Hana was the most "interested" (being your typical Calico "mouser" and all). Even so, after only a handful of verbal reprimands (she hates those), she got the idea that she should be treating them with more respect than to dart at them. As for Maui, he is more afraid of the birds than anything. Mostly, though, as my cats observed that I treated the birds with affection, I truly believe that they (the cats) began to understand that the birds were important to me. Such things can only be communicated with the heart. We just all happen to be blessed enough to be able to so speak, one to another, and to understand together.

"Cat Tolerates Cockatiels" To what can this amazing reverse behavior be attributed? Were they raised together as babies? Are there repercussions if the cat shows interest? this is amazing.
