Good idea would be to set up a pressure plate at the end of the water flow where your items will be. Then run red stone up to the top level (where you'll be more often)--so you'll know when items have fallen down there without having to take vain trips to check on it.

I realize this, but the whole 'priest molestation' scandal didn't happen to adults, it happened to children. Perhaps the wording in my comment was sloppy--it still down plays the scandal and makes it look ridiculous, when in reality it is disgusting and abhorrent.

Yeah I feel much more comfortable in a car simply because I'm in control. Even if statistically more people die in car crashes, obviously given to have an accident in a car or plane you're most likely to survive the car crash.
