DON NEWKIRK, an artist, musician and producer whose name, and voice reverberates through the collective subconscious of the hip-hop community of the world! In his Jr. High school years, fate would have Grammy Award wining producer PRINCE PAUL and NEWKIRK became not only class mates but life long friends. It was the forging of that relationship which lead to NEWKIRK'S debut cd entitled "FUNK CITY".

Maybe you remember his endeavors into the FUNK with the release of "FUNK CITY" on DEF JAM records, or his feature on the classic PRINCE PAUL cd "A PRINCE AMONG THIEVES" where he covered the classic "MOOD FOR LOVE".

FUNK CITY was released to critical acclaim for the NEWKIRK's varied and mature approach to his own interpolation his Hip Hop, Funk as well as other musical upbringing and influences. NEWKIRK'S production skills can be found in various places including cd's, soundtracks, scores and various commercials.

Some may only know his voice, which resides in the collective subconscious of the hip-hop community of the world due to his infamous voice-overs on legendary hip hop albums such as DE LA SOUL'S 3 FEET HIGH and RISING and 3rd BASS'S "THE GAS FACE".
NEWKIRK'S voice is deeply imbedded in the soul of Hip Hop.

His production company is SMOKIN HEADZ, through which he's produced joints for - THE BLACK FLAMES, ALYSON WILLIAMS, CARON WHEELER, KEON BRYCE and many more. As a collaborator with long time confidant PRINCE PAUL and legendary Funkadelic Keyboard genius BERNIE WORRELL, the 3 formed BABY ELEPHANT and wowed critics world wide with their debut cd. "BABY ELEPHANT" .

His extensive background in hip hop/music has awarded him with TONS of experience in production and engineering.

NEWKIRK and PRINCE PAUL's production company THE LORD BROS has been responsible for the projects "BIGGER and BLACKER" and "I AINT NEVER SCARED" (CHRIS ROCK), music for the movies "POOTIE TANG", and "LIVING LARGE", and the documentary "PRESSURE COOKER, several commercials and the score for the SHOWTIME independent film "THE BEST THIEF IN THE WORLD".

His musical talents also extends to playing all the instruments (except of the drums) on the popular song, "TALKIN ALL THAT JAZZ" by the STETSASONIC and not long ago collaborated with KIL RIPKIN on his the album, THE BALANCING ACT.

You also may have seen him on one of his people's profiles, shout outs to DIAMOND DOLLARS, NYCE- P.N.C., FUNKTIONAL PRODUCTIONS, BERNIE WORELL, KEON BRYCE, HOGAN and so many more.

Don's most recent work is the song "IN THE BEGINING" from PEGASUS -- THE HOTNESS MONSTER album (produced by NYCE p.n.c.), featuring KENNY D, and JEREMY VICCARI plays the guitar. Don is quoted as saying "It's always a pleasure to make music with friends, especially when it's published for the world to feel".
