Lamont Coleman (May 30, 1974February 15, 1999), also known by his stage name Big L, was an American rapper. Big L was a member of the hip hop collective D.I.T.C. He released his debut solo album, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous, in March 1995. While working on his second album, Big L was shot and killed. The Big Picture, an album of songs he had recorded and a cappella recordings completed by producers and guest MCs, was released posthumously in August 2000.
Death
Big L was shot and killed in Harlem on the night of February 15, 1999. Gerard Woodley, a childhood friend of Big L, was arrested in May for the crime. At the time of his death, L had two brothers in prison. "It's a good possibility it was retaliation for something [Big L's] brother did, or [Woodley] believed he had done," said a spokesperson for the NYPD. Woodley was later released and the murder case remains unsolved.
DJ Premier has made a tribute to Big L on his Sirius/XM satellite show and a song entitled "Full clip" that features Guru of the rap group Gang Starr.

esta es una cancion del album de 1964 the times they are a-changing (tercer album de dylan).
La canción narra el asesinato de Hattie Carroll, una criada afroamericana, a manos de William Devereux Zantzinger, un plantador de tabaco de Maryland. El incidente ocurrió el 9 de febrero de 1963 durante una fiesta de etiqueta en el Hotel Emerson (Baltimore). Durante la fiesta, Zantzinger maltrató, insultó, y golpeó al menos a tres miembros del personal del hotel: un botones, una camarera, y en torno a la 1:30 de la mañana a Hattie Carroll, una criada de 51 años, madre de once hijos (en la canción dice diez), y presidenta de una asociación afroamericana.
Aparentemente, Zantzinger ya estaba borracho cuando llego al Hotel Emerson, y se había dedicado a golpear y maltratar a trabajadores delrestaurante Eager House, un prestigioso restaurante de la ciudad, empleando el mismo cayado que uso en el Hotel Emerson.
