After learning and playing classical music as a kid, I started playing popular music by ear in 1959 when in high school in Lebanon, Oregon. The first song I learned was "Tall Cool One" by The Wailers - a predominantly piano-oriented instrumental.I played in a band for the first time while in the Air Force in 1964 in Tacoma, Wash. Bought my first electric keyboard -- a Wurlitzer. Eventually got a Farfisa organ.
After the Air Force I had no plans about anything. Soon got a call and band-job offer from a guy in Tacoma I had never known, who had heard about me from before I went to Viet Nam. So I packed up and moved to Wash. I remained there playing in bands and eventually going back to college (U of W) for a degree.
So now, retired after 26 years at IBM, I'm performing again. My biggest influences are the Rock and R&B from the 50's.
I've written several songs, but haven't copyrighted them so probably shouldn't put them on YouTube as yet.
