Creado en el seno y con el apoyo del Sistema de Orquestas Juveniles e infantiles de Venezuela y conformado por miembros de la Sinfonica de la Juventud Simón Bolivar.Esta agrupación nace por la necesidad de sus integrantes de entrar en contacto con el campo de la música de cámara y de todos los recursos que este puede ofrecer,hecho que redunda y sin duda alguna en un enriquecimiento tanto para sus miembros,como para los niños y jóvenes que forman parte del Sistema Orquestal que lidera el Maestro José Antonio Abreu.
El cuarteto se ha presentado en distintos escenarios de Venezuela,asi como en Sur,Centro,Norte América,Europa y Asia,realizando conciertos y actividades pedagogicas,tales como clases magistrales con Cuarteto Latinoamericano,el Cuarteto de la Filarmonica de Berlin y con el Cuarteto Chiliangirian;con el Maestro Donald Weilersteing del Cuarteto Cleveland y con el Maestro Andras Keller del Cuarteto Keller.Entre ellos grandes personalidades del mundo de la musica que han escuchado y trabajado con el Cuarteto Simón Bolivar,cabe destacar a los maestros José Antonio Abreu,Gustavo Dudamel,Claudio Abbado y Sir Simon Rattle.
El Cuarteto Simón Bolivar tiene entre sus metas el desarrollo de una red de Cuartetos en Venezuela y Sur America,a fin de difundir la música de camara entre los jovenes y niños de Latinoamérica.
A través de participación en concursos y festivales de renombre internacional,el cuarteto concibe,además,relacionarse con maestros y jovenes agrupaciones de cámara,desarrollando así la busqueda de nuevas maneras de enfrentarse a la música y,al mismo tiempo dando a conocer en el exterior la calidad del trabajo no solo sinfonico,sino tambien cameristco,que se realiza en Venezuela.

Created from within the National System of Youth and Children Symphony Orchestras of Venezuela (El Sistema) the quartet is composed of musicians of the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela. This group arose from the need of its members to come into contact with chamber music and the wealth of resources it can offer, which benefit not only its musicians, but also the children and young people who make up the Sistema led by José Antonio Abreu.

Along with the orchestra, the Simón Bolívar String Quartet has played at various venues within Venezuela as well as in South, Central and North America, Europe and Asia, both performing in concerts and taking part in educational events. They have worked with and been heard by such musical personalities as: José Antonio Abreu, Gustavo Dudamel, Claudio Abbado and Sir Simon Rattle.

The quartet have participated in masterclasses with the Cuarteto Latinoamericano, Berlin Philharmonic String Quartet, Chilingirian String Quartet, Donald Willerstein from the Cleveland String Quartet, Andras Keller from the Keller String Quartet and Ulyses Ascanio, founding violinist of the Youth and Childrens Orchestras of Venezuela.

One of the aims of the Simón Bolívar String Quartet is the development of a network of string quartets in Venezuela and South America, with the purpose of propagating chamber music among children and young people in Latin America.
