Although they were initially grouped with the legions of pop-metal bands that dominated the American heavy metal scene of the '80s, Queensrÿche were one of the most distinctive bands of the era. Where their contemporaries built on the legacy of Van Halen, Aerosmith, and Kiss, Queensrÿche constructed a progressive form of heavy metal that drew equally from the guitar pyrotechnics of post-Van Halen metal and '70s art rock, most notably Pink Floyd and Queen. After releasing a handful of ignored albums, the band began to break into the mainstream with the acclaimed 1988 album Operation: Mindcrime. Its follow-up, Empire, was the group's biggest success, selling over two million copies due to the hit single "Silent Lucidity." Queensrÿche never sustained that widespread popularity -- like most late-'80s metal bands, their audience disappeared after the emergence of grunge. Nevertheless, they retained a large cult following well into the ensuing decades. ________________________________________
For a price I'd do about anything Except pull the trigger For that I'd need a pretty good cause Then I heard of Dr. X The man with the cure Just watch the television Yeah, you'll see there's something going on
Got no love for politicians Or that crazy scene in D.C. It's just a power mad town But the time is ripe for changes There's a growing feeling That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due
I used to trust the media To tell me the truth, tell us the truth But now I've seen the payoffs Everywhere I look Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?
Revolution calling Revolution calling Revolution calling you [There's a] Revolution calling Revolution calling Gotta make a change Gotta push, gotta push it on through
I'm tired of all this bullshit They keep selling me on T.V. About the communist plan And all the shady preachers Begging for my cash Swiss bank accounts while giving their Secretaries the slam
They're all in Penthouse now Or Playboy magazine, million dollar stories to tell I guess Warhol wasn't wrong Fame fifteen minutes long Everyone's using everybody, making the sale
I used to think That only America's way, way was right But now the holy dollar rules everybody's lives Gotta make a million doesn't matter who dies

5th Track off Dio's concept album Magica
Lyrics: Welcome to sun down, welcome to the dark Could it be that evil has heroes
Bring everybody down - Celebration Passing of the light Giving up your spirit to the night
You'll turn to stone - Turn to stone Just for ever You'll turn to stone - Turn to stone
Here comes a fire We'll burn it to the ground Inside the page lies the power
We've turned it all around - Celebration Words have control To take away your heart and then your soul
You'll turn to stone - Turn to stone Just for ever You'll turn to stone - Turn to stone
Oh pray for a miracle But the wishes in the well have all gone dry There's no way for a miracle It's not the way you live, it's how you'll die
Welcome to sun down - Welcome to the dark Could it be that the evil has heroes
We've turned it all around - Celebration Words have control To take away your heart and then your soul
You'll turn to stone - Turn to stone Just for ever You'll turn to stone You'll turn to stone - Turn to stone
Concerning the inhabitants of Otherworld. There are many similarities to be found, parallel to our own society. The individual must be absorbed. The collective must be as one. Feed my head!
