Silent Voices United Inc. a non-profit tax-exempt organization, under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, located in the Highbridge-Morrisania Section, in the Bronx, total population according to the US Census 74,743, age media 27 years, more than 90% of the people are African-Americans and Hispanics, and at least 40% are living below poverty level and known to have the highest HIV/AIDS cases in the Bronx. The organization was form by concerned individuals determined to make a difference within the neighborhood and with high-risk youth under twenty-five in communities throughout New York City. Our organization focuses on strengthening and empowering a community and today's youth with our various initiatives, that concentrate on youth development, out-reach prevent, awareness, and mentoring.

HIV/AIDS is a preventable and treatable disease, yet more than five young people 13 -24 acquire HIV infection every minute; over 7,000, each day; and more than 2.6 million each year (UNAIDS). Today, in 2010 there are nearly 12 million young people 13-24 living with HIV/AIDS global.

In North America, 1.5 million Americans have been infected with HIV and more than 524,000 have died of AIDS (Youth AIDS). People under the age 25 are estimated to make up half of all the new HIV Infections occurring in the U.S. and an estimated 250,000 young people are unaware that they are infected with HIV (The Body).




Silent Voices United, Inc. will use our "Got Tested?" HIV outreach initiative to educate and test thousands of young people under 25 years old throughout the Bronx. We will be provide the uninfected tested, access to the information, education and services necessary to develop the life skills required to reduce their vulnerability to HIV infection and the infected with the appropriate counseling, education, and opportunities for linkage to care are the next necessary steps to controlling the HIV epidemic in the.
