I saw your call to The Atheist Experience. I too, am a closet atheist in a fundamentalist creationist family (my dad even thinks Obama is the antichrist). I also used to be a fundamentalist Christian myself. I used to argue against atheists on a channel called "ProudCreationist", until I soon realized it was all bullshit. If my family were to ever find out about my disbelief, I can't even begin to imagine what my life would be like. I truly am glad I'm not alone, and I'd really like to see how things turn out for you. Nice stories on the Atheist Experience. Hope both you and your dad are eventually able to stop feeling that you need to lie to people about what you believe (or don't believe). The hard thing about coming out to family is the possible threat of being turned away from your own flesh and blood, so many of us have been there. I'm sure if anything bad happens--even if it's in two years--you'll have a lot of support here and people to talk to about it. =)

awesome call in to the atheist experience, i totally know where youre coming from. i went to university with the intention of learning greek so i could read the bible in greek and get a better understanding etc, and then go and preach the word...4 years later i started on my evolutionary biology degree haha!
