@Texmurphy51 It has been done. Try it yourself and do some research, and actually petrol even produces excess energy via heat etc. So no, it isn't impossible.

Reusing and redirecting that energy is another story and most likely wont be done any time in the near future, if ever.

@wavepainter No they aren't, the spectators go there, they don't even PAY. The organizers set up the stalls and contest, that is it. Hell they make surfers sign a waiver but they can't make spectators do that as they come and go, and people wont even listen.
