About this user
Hello! I'm SheWhoFeels, a sensitive and empathic spirit who celebrates the Positive things in Life. I rejoice in my love for my soul mate and my animal companions; Nature and, in the words of James Herriot, DVM, "All Things Bright and Beautiful!"
I love reading, writing, gardening and vlogging, as well as cooking and cherishing my loved ones. I also run a website for adults suffering from eating disorders who have found treatment inaccessible, of insufficient duration, ineffective or unwanted. Our focus is on Optimal Wellness -- minimizing pathology and maximizing health; making the best of difficult circumstances.
I am disabled from chronic illness (heart failure; arrhythmias; pacemaker-dependent; chronic pain; dysautonomia, chronic EBV, CFS, hormone/fertility struggles; osteoporosis; hypothyroidism; malabsorption and subsequent chronic nausea; GERD; Seasonal Affective Disorder; depression and a restrictive eating disorder -- secondary to chronic nausea).
I have an educational background in Pharmacy and Medicine but did not complete either course of study due to my debilitating progressive illness. As such, I have garnered a wealth of experience and knowledge in Living with chronic conditions, and I volunteer as a Patient Advocate to help others.
The Internet is a phenomenal resource for individuals who are disabled and restricted physically from participating in traditional social endeavors. I am infinitely grateful for the connections I make online! I have noted a disparity of genuine, open and honest people who are real when sharing online, and this is saddening. I am myself on and offline. This is why I will never use the words "in real Life" as a descriptor for my offline Life. I am real here, too! :)
