About Me:
Cannabis has been deemed illegal for multiple reasons. Certainly greed and racism seem to be some of the main issues but also other debatable factors seem to play a role. Issues like civil liberties in particular for the socially disadvantaged and perhaps people of color. Many young men and women are incarcerated in jails, unable to continue school, and later will not be able to get student loans. These are the very people that will not be able to get an education without grants and loans. How is that helping our society as a whole?
This has led the NAACP recently to endorse the now defunct Prop 19.
The line drawn to differentiate legal from illegal substances is an arbitrary line. There is no scientific backing to how that line was drawn. In fact, if one was to evaluate the data from multiple studies regarding harm and severity it will clearly result in the line being completely opposite to what it is today.
This arbitrary line was drawn based on fear, racism, ignorance, puritanism, misguided ambition, greed, and now we can add stubbornness.
Science has continually shown that cannabis is safer than alcohol, tobacco, or even some of the over the counter medications like aspirin. Why do we disregard science? If we get sick do we want doctors backed by science to treat us or legislators? It doesn't make sense to ignore science when it doesn't suit us or echo our own outdated beliefs.
Some of the fears dispensed by typical proponents is that this will destroy the work place, render our roads practically non-drivable due to the sheer number of drugged drivers, get all our children to be smoking this evil weed day and night and destroy society as we know it. WOW
This does not take into effect the fact that so many people already smoke cannabis. If it is not a big problem now then why will it change?
Because more people will do it? and lose their minds to the pleasures of the evil weed and forget their responsibilities, jobs, kids, and society?
Walking the streets like zombies in search of that reefer? Do I hear reefer madness here?
LOL. Cannabis like any relaxing substance has it's time and place. No reason to alter the work place. No intoxication is allowed while working. Same goes for driving.
Society as a whole has to be mature enough to say adults can partake of certain things legally. If governments continue to treat adults as immature children, then our children will not have adult parents.
It is our role to be adults, and parents, and responsible citizens. Stop relying on the government to protect us from ourselves. It doesn't work and will hurt society as a whole.
The idea of regulation through prohibition is flawed. If it is already an illegal substance with number of users holding steady or going up while supply has increased what would prompt us to continue in the same manner? This is a failed policy. Regulation can only be done with full legalization. Putting people in jail is not regulation. Get real.
The civil liberty is a fundamental issue that is or was protected under the constitution.
The will of others should not be imposed upon us when we are not hurting anyone.
If Social costs are the crux for the blatant disregard of basic freedom then better close up all ice cream parlors and fast food restaurants, ban alcohol and tobacco because in the overall picture we are paying for their harms.
But I think with that everyone will cry "Freedom" but hey call it selective freedom.
Prohibition caused a lot of damage, pain, and suffering on the same American Citizens it is supposed to protect. Don't propagate the mistake.
Thank you

blessings and wonder to you and your dear ones, my friend,

That if by chance it be shaken, or into its depths like a pebble
Drops some careless word, it overflows, and its secret,
Spilt on the ground like water, can never be gathered together

does not get wet, nor is the water broken. Although its light is
wide and great, the moon is reflected even in a puddle an inch
